Flashbacks show the difficult childhoods of the group, which includes successful architect Ben ( John Ritter), and prominent fashion designer Beverly (Annette O'Toole). And It has - children are disappearing or being horribly mutilated. Hanlon wants them to honor the promise they made back in 1958 to reunite and fight It once again, if It ever resurfaced. Now, town librarian Mike Hanlon ( Tim Reid) is calling a widely scattered group of adults who were once tight-knit friends as kids. This is a very well-made horror film/miniseries, and no one should miss it!īased on Stephen King's novel, IT is set in the fictional town of Derry, Maine, where a supernatural curse has caused waves of violence, murders, and disappearances - mostly of children - since colonial times. But do keep in mind that there are positive messages, like teamwork and loyalty, since positive role models, like the kids having to work together to defeat Pennywise and remain loyal to each other along the way. Just some violence and language is about the worst of it. If your kid is in their early teens or even just shy of being a teenager, there is nothing in this movie that they cannot handle. Also, the violence and gore is limited, since it is made for television. I think the 5/5 for violence is a little bit of an exaggeration, since the violence isn’t super dark, so I would say it should be more like 3/5 for violence. It’s cool how Pennywise looks like a circus clown in this movie, but has a different, scarier clown look in the 20 It movies. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves horror movies, but isn’t afraid of clowns. This was actually a very good film, considering the fact that it was a horror miniseries made for television.
